Lee Landscape Polariser @ 16mm - Feedback Please

    Good morning folks.

I'm after some feedback from anyone who uses a Lee circular polariser, or specifically, the newer slim Landscape Circular Polariser. I would like to know people's experiences with how consistent the polarisation effect is on a wide angle lens. I commonly use the Canon 16-35 F/4 and very often shoot my bigger views at 16mm. I've spoken to Lee and they say they have resolved the vignetting issues at 16mm with this new slimmer filter, so, I'm happy with that, but its consistency I'm after real world feedback on.

I'd also be very interested to see examples of anyone who can post images with this filter @ 16mm

Can anyone possibly help on this?

    Thanks in advance

    Andy

The sky is most polarised at 90 degrees to the sun - since a wide angle lens at 16mm is extremely wide you will get some variation in the darkness of the blue sky as parts of the image come out of the optimal angle. The effect is less noticeable the more you zoom in on your lens

Have a Hoya Pro1 circular polariser permanently attached to my 16-35. Used a lot on recent trip to Skye. Not really noticed too much variation but I'm guessing there will always be some what ever you use.

I've got this filter and that lens. In the main it works well but as Jim says 16mm is really too wide to get even polarisation across a sky. I'm pretty positive these 2 shots were taken using it. The last one was too but as it's portrait there is less sky.

That is quite marked. Can't recall seeing something that I've seen on my shots. I'll take a look later and see if I can post something.

Yep it is. But that is a pretty full on bright sky and I could have processed the lighter periphery to match which I didn't here.

Not sure these are quite as extreme as yours seems to be.

Yeah, I'd always have to keep the very wide angle in mind if I brought one...Just lots of ummm'ing and arrrr'ing at the moment. I know i'd get the benefit when I do my water shots with clarity through the water and some colour saturation, but, that point alone isn't really enough to justify it for me...yet...thanks for the info and feedback James, appreciate it

Yeah, to a certain degree, I know i'll have to accept some, but its more about how much is acceptable...A small amount I could correct in post, but, I prefer not to have to rely on PP to correct things..Cheers for the info matey

Thank you for posting the images Wayne, I appreciate that. That's what I was after seeing, the amount of polarisation change across an image. As I said above, a small amount I can correct, but big sways in colour change doesn't make it viable. Cheers

Yep they will have been. Give me a bit more time and I should be able to find some more. Don't normally shoot clear blue skies so won't have too many.

Wonder if position of sun and things like aperture will make the effect worse.
