    Still a few ladybirds about but not for much longer is the temperatures dip as forecast

        Must take more notice of ladybirds. Just checked and there are 46 species in the family there are only 26 recognisable as ladybirds.

                Yes, it has spread from Japan across large areas of the temperate world. There is considerable debate among coleopterists (beetle people, of whom I'm one) about how much it really affects other ladybirds. There has been some suggestion that it has been exaggerated by those who were keen to get grants to study it ..............and so keep their jobs going.
                There are still larvae about as well, if there is a sharp frost most of those will die. The adults hibernate together, sometimes thousands have been found in places such as litter bins.

                  We were at an NT property in Hampshire yesterday (The Vyne) and there were dozens flying. I assumed they were looking for somewhere to overwinter.
