Arca Swiss mounting solution for Manfrotto heads?

Over the years I have acquired several Manfrotto heads with different mounting plates. I recently purchased my first non-Manfrotto head and it uses an Arca Swiss plate and, if possible, I would like to standardise on A/S so I can leave a single plate permanently attached to the body.

Has anyone used A/S plates with Manfrotto heads? Any practical experience feedback, good or bad, would be appreciated ...

    Thanks.

Look to see if the plate holder on the Manfroto head is kept in place by an Allen bolt. If it is the you may be able to replace it with an AS type one . Next see if you can remove the plate head via undoing the bolt. If you can't undo the bolt ( or if there is no bolt) then you are stuffed
    Hope the helps

I would go with Jims suggestion but it's usually a Heath Robinson at best .long term you would be better off selling what you have and starting fresh with A/S stuff.
A little word of warning here though be carefull with the cheap Chinese adaptors as some don't fit quiet as good as they should ,but others can and do work superbly ,I.e I have a 490mm Chinese A/S plate I keep on my lens at all times ,gives extra adjustment ,a extended grip and cost a very expensive £3.75 inc free postage

Whilst I don't use a AS plate as such for use on my tripod head, I do have an L-Bracket (AS style) permanently attached to my 5D. This arrangement works well for me, especially for landscape work as it's so easy to switch orientation from landscape to portrait

If the plate holder isn't removable then you could use something like this

I've used these attached to the Manfrotto RC2 plate.

              Sorry about quality.

For me this is good solution as I can remove this and easily attach my spotting scope.

Kirk do a $30 adaptor plate that will allow you to do this, see

download the instruction sheet and it shows how it all works

They also do the adaptor plate with i presume the Arca Swiss clamp already attached for $100
