    Hand held City Shot

Been quite hectic in New Zealand the last couple of days.

We got hit by a 7.5 earthquake around midnight Sunday and have had around a thousand aftershocks, some not much smaller than the initial quake. We have also had major storms and severe flooding. This obviously gives great opportunities for some photography.

Here is a pano I made this evening when a pitch of blue sky appeared in Wellington. Canon 6d with 24-105

    Slightly different version here

        Thanks,

Yes it was a big quake. The major road going down the east coast of the south island has been destroyed and and is covered in enormous landslides. Could be many months before they're cleared due to the scale. The sea bed has raised around 2.5 meters. Luckily, it looks like only a few large buildings are seriously damaged in Wellington, although they might collapse. Fortunately, it was on a Sunday night, or there certainly would have been deaths in them. Due to the time, two people were killed unfortunately, but not where I am. We're still getting aftershocks, but thankfully, they seem to be less intense. So hopefully we can start cleaning up and try getting back to normality.

Really like you pano image beautiful part of the world.

Visited Kaikoura a couple of years ago along with Wellington and drove along that coastal road which was stunning with amazing scenery & took loads of pics. It must be awful living with the constant fear of earthquakes.
