      I've been saving hard including looking down the back of the sofa for lost change to acquire a 7D mk ii. Watching on camera price buster the price has been volatile to say the least recently

        You could try looking at an 80d instead, unless there is something specific you want in the 7D MkII. Autofocus on 80d is now at least as good as 7D MkII.

          Although going a bit OT I had decided on the 7D ii for nature photography and my research suggested the auto focus is better than the 80D as well as better weatherproofing / build quality. However others may be able to offer a different view

            There's been plenty written about 7D Mk II vs 80d here, but Nina Bailey, Technical Editor, wrote in the July to September magazine after testing the 80D "I photographed moving subjects with the EOS 80D and the focusing is excellent - so good that it is difficult to judge which is the better, the 80D or the 7D Mk II"
            Black Friday deal from WEX, 80D at £899, plus there's £60 cashback from Canon, which I reckon is a bargain for such a well specified camera.

              80d is a great camera, and I recommended it to a colleague, he is very pleased with it, I would have purchased one if I hadn't gone with the 7dmk2, really not much to debate, very similar specs, make your choice and spend your money.

                  What really annoyed me was that Wex put up their price of a lens I was interested in by 20% towards the end of their 10% off Canon lenses offer. I phoned them and they said due to the lower value of the pound new stock will be at a higher price. However they have now reverted to the original price. I'm thinking they decided they had sold enough at 10% off, but am quite annoyed that the person I spoke to appears to have been deliberately misleading (of course that doesn't mean they did the misleading, it may have come from higher up).

                        If customers hold off from buying at the raised prices, maybe the message might sink in at Canon?

                        I'm sure some of the retailers saw it as a 'good earner' to sell off existing stock at the higher price.

                        Quite recently I walked into my local Jessops, and bought a new 7D2 for £1178.

                        A few days later saw that all the main dealers, including Jessops, were advertising if at £1379.

                        There's no way I'm going to believe that I had the last 7D2 the company had in their stock, and the same with all the other dealers that upped their prices at the same time.

                          I thought that "retail price maintenance" had been abolished over 50 years ago, which makes one wonder how all dealers sell the same equipment at the same price. I suspect that it is because anyone who doesn't gets their supply cut off.

                            I just checked on the price of the 24-70mm f/2.8L II and my jaw hit the floor! I bought mine 18 months ago from WEX for £1260 and it's now £1899!! I knew prices were creeping up, but that is a rip off! That smacks of Canon profiteering because of the weak £ as it's certainly not devalued by 50%!

                              Prices for lenses seem to be rising while bodies aren't (not all of them, anyway). There are a few good cashback deals on lenses, but I suspect that might still make them more expensive than they were. Prices of the high end kit seems to be being maintained or raised, while "consumer" kit has by far the best deals. I assume they think those with enough money will be determined to have what they want come what may, while competition from compacts, mirrorless and smart phones mean that prices need to be kept down for lower end DSLR kit or they'll be priced out of the market.
