    Re: 5Dmk IV GPS

Don't know how good the GPS unit is in the camera but being inside a building could mean no lock will be achieved.

But I'm guessing that's something you are aware of.

In the GPS menu under setup you should be able to see the status.

              cheers Joe

I've gone thought all of that in the manual - someone of a FB group for the camera suggested it can take a while to lock on from new, I think that sounds rubbish but I'll try, so I've changed the camera to mode 1 and checking once a second - I will leave it for 30 mins outside and see

              I'm not holding any hope

Could not acquire GPS indoors. Went outside, set to disable, set to mode 2, GPS flashing on top about 30-45 seconds then went solid, display GPS info showed details.

Outside had 3 bars, came back indoors, still updating by look of things but now only 1 bar.

I'm on 1.0.2 but there is now a 1.0.3 available.

                    Re: 5Dmk IV GPS

First sat navigation I had use to take ages to aquire a lock.

GPS units can take some considerable time to get a lock if they are moved a large distance between locks.

                        Re: 5Dmk IV GPS

Mine took less than a minute once outside. Dumb questions but is top of camera uncovered and is there clear view of sky with no obstructions? Less dumb question did you disable and then enable again once outside?

Only final suggestions would be to pull the battery and do a factory reset ... can't think of anything else to offer ... as you say, back to supplier tomorrow ...
