    DPP4 vs Adoibe Camera RAW

I have recently done some experiments in getting the best from difficult images. The particular area I was exploring was images with very high dynamic range where I may want to recover detail in shadows. The pictures were all shot on my 5D MkIV.

I used CC Adobe Camera Raw in Lightroom and also processed in DPP4.5.10.1. The results were interesting. Adobe recovered detail but there was quite a noticeably difference using DPP4. There was less noise and better overall detail recovery.

The point I'm making is don't dismiss DPP4.

No longer using Canon but still teaching new Canon users (and others) the gentle art of Photography.

Extremely valid point! Thinking only of the conversion of sensor data to an editable format one would hope that the manufacturer would generate the best result. Note I'm not talking about the best image manipulation tools - I think that crown is worn by the third-party products.

I will keep DPP4 on my laptop as I still have a try with it and like it too.
