    Festive HDR

Having owned the 7d MkII for more than fourteen months, finally decided to have a play with the inbuilt HDR functionality that it offers.

the last one works but the first 2 have that hdr look that many dislike - I do find with incamera HDR you have to be very picky with the subject so the range isn't too great

Yes I know what you mean Ian, about the HDR look.

The neat thing about the 7D MkII is you have a number of in camera options to choose from, and you also get the three RAWs so if you don't like what's happened in camera you can re-do it yourself when you get home

whenever I do landscapes I always use the in camera HDR as it gives so many options, either use the resulting image, re process the raw's using either photomatix or Nik, blend the exposures manually or just process one of the single raw's

The only draw back with always using incamera is you are limited with 3 shots, not unless I got it wrong, so I always. Bracket myself normally with 5

Like you Ian, I go for a wider range than the standard 3 - I usually use 5 and have not yet seen the need to go further than that

ive used 7 but it was due to heavy shadow and bright light, in fact the recent Gotham shot I posted

                Re: Festive HDR

Unfortunately, in the first shot the only thing I can see is converging verticals - sorry. Although some might not agree, I actually like the result in the second. The third is definitely a well processed one.

Like some of the others on this thread I also 5-bracket rather than use the in-camera option.

As others have said I use the in camera HDR but never use the resulting image, always process the individual files, gives me much more pleasing result

The third is lovely, and the pick of the bunch for me. I would definitely straighten number 1, and number 2 is perhaps a tad overcooked, but I still quite like it.
