As you can see it was written for painters rather than photographers, and they have a great deal more freedom in placing elements within a scene, but a pleasing image is a pleasing image so much of it is transferable when either composing an image in camera or post processing. But there are some interesting differences - the author is obviously not one for straightening verticals, for example.
