    Foggy and Frosty

    Taken mid-week in North Yorkshire

    A Frosty Morning
A cold winter's morning in rural North Yorkshire, the sun is slowly rising and beginning to melt away the lingering fog and the frost on the trees and surrounding farmland.

    Winter Woodland
A cold, frosty and foggy morning in the woodland.

Sheep in the morning fog (sorry, animals and not really landscape).
A flock of Sheep in the morning Fog, the sunlight shining through from behind.

Whenever I see your name appear on the activity stream, I'm pretty sure it's going to be good and I'm not disappointed here, especially the first one.

John, that's very kind of you. Thanks very much indeed. No 1 is my personal favourite too, the softness and calmness really hits home for me, but I know it might be a bit too wishy washy for some.

Edit: Andy, you must have posted while I was replying. Thank you too.

All nice but that first one is special

I'd been out earlier chasing the mist hoping to be able to get above it and photograph a cloud-filled bay but it was far too deep for that. Maybe tomorrow.

          Cheers,
          John

An excellent set Andy I must say. For me the third shot is my fav, there is an air of unease about them emerging from the fog

I really like the pastel colours on #1. I'm not sure about #2, although the light is interesting, it seems to lack a point of focus, but #3 is a classic rural scene - like it.

                        Re: Foggy and Frosty

Up to your normal excellent standards, Andy. I initially saw these on my phone and thought the first was indeed a touch 'wishy washy'. But now looking at it on the big screen it certainly isn't, it is beautiful. On the second, I was out in the fog yesterday and took a shot that in my mind's eye looked just like yours. I'm just about to start processing it, and whilst it is no-where near as good, you have given me something to aim towards, so thanks. Your third is my favourite, your use of dark against the light is exceptional, the composition is spot on and a perfect capture of them 'frozen in time'.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your replies. It's good to get feedback on what works and what doesn't.

Re photo No2 not having an obvious focal point, I think that comment was spot on. In hindsight, maybe I could have tried darkening the twisted tree on the left, just enough to make it a little more prominent?

The 1st photo is my personal favourite from the 3, it does need to be viewed large though. :)
