    Favorite Canon SX40 & SX50 Photos

    Hello,

I'd like to share my favorite photos taken with my canon superzoom cameras. All wild, hand-held, no cropping. I enjoy the effect that "side-lighting" has on my subjects so early morning or late afternoon sun works best for me and I prefer the slightly darker end of the exposure spectrum.

    I hope you enjoy them.

    Tony

Thanks for your kind comments, Fallow. Firstly, it certainly helps the cause when you're presented with such amazingly beautiful subjects to photograph like the ones you see here! Also, proximity and plenty of available sunlight to play with really helps these small sensor cameras do their best work. Oh, and plenty of practice, practice, practice!

A few more I hope you'll enjoy. The first photo is an aquarium jellyfish photo, hand-held, no cropping. I wanted to convey the sense of a scene from outer space. By adjusting the settings to darken the scene the particles which were floating in the tank began to take on the appearance of "stars."

The rest are all wild, hand-held, no cropping.

                  4. Brown Pelican (Canon SX50)

Thanks very much, Alan. Birds remain my very favorite subjects. I refer to them as "living works of art!"

I enjoyed browsing your New website link. Your Black & White gallery is especially fantastic.

Thanks very much, Fallow. I've owned a few point-and-shoot cameras other than Canon and I've always enjoyed learning their unique "behaviors." My first Canon SX50 failed after many years of excellent service. I'm currently enjoying my second Canon SX50 and we've forged a mutually beneficial relationship over several years. I never ask it to perform outside its comfort zone and it rewards me with images I find very pleasing. Beyond the SX50 & SX40, I also own the Canon G11.
