    flickr-yahoo grrrrr

flickr / yahoo are doing my head in this morning ,had to re-sign in to my flickr account for the first time in years ,then change my password total pita
then there sending me e/mails that a unauthorised device is trying to sign in (MY FLIPPING I-PAD) they must be trying to look efficient before someone buys them no doubt

Errr with Yahoo's record of losing account details to hackers I would think additional levels of checks would be welcomed. As for the email, Facebook, Apple and Google for three all do that. In fact, I once logged into FaceBook from a Windows 10 PC in Bombay. Considering I was in the car heading to Slimbridge at the time, I fould the notification quite useful and went through the password change process ASAP.

These measures are all there to protect your access, not to inconvenience you.

The trouble with all these buyouts is that you can't keep account of who owns what and who wants to consolidate all your accounts against your will... Yahoo, Google, MS or who... In such a perplexed web environment every such efforts to get you re-confirm or change your password are annoying.

In some ways we pay through those companies advertising or otherwise patronizing the giant owners!

Yes, but I can remember when we had to pay for an email account and then pay every minute as downloads crawled along.
Somebody has to pay for it and I prefer it be the advertisers rather than me. Things like Flickr are businesses, not public services, it always seems a bit unreasonable to complain too much about something you're not paying for.

But where does the advertising revenue come from?... Why the consumer of course - which does mean that unless you never buy anything that 's advertised anywhere you're still paying for something somewhere that appears to be 'free'...

Always remember that when something is free it is you that is the product being sold.
