    5D Question

I've got a little bit of money coming my way and i was thinking of spending it on a camera upgrade , can't quite stretch to a 1D but i've always hankered after a 5D . going off official prices the Mk III can be got from the likes of John Lewis for £2180 but the Mk IV is £3500 . Now i'm not quite prepared to cop out £3.5K on a camera . Looking at Hdew Cameras the prices drop to £1685 and £2600 (i know what Hdew sell , i bought my 6D from there and it was no bother and the cameras still going strong ) . I can stretch to £2600 for the Mk IV . So my question is to the people who had a 5D3 and upgraded to a 5D4 , is the 4 worth the extra £1000 for the Bells/whistles/larger MP or should i go for the 3 and use the £1000 for something else (i always like to have a battery grip for one....) ? Obviously some of you know what i use my camera for - but just to remind you Wildlife / Landscape / Steam Trains .
    Thanks
    Gordon

    Re: 5D Question

Very tough question actually ... I upgraded from III to IV mainly because the IV seemed to be a significant upgrade over the III. I have no regrets.

Obviously, the III was and still is a very good camera ... but the IV is definitely better.

      Re: 5D Question

if it was me I'd wait and go for the IV - the things I've noticed is a HUGE improvement in low light focusing, it will focus in the dark, ISO has gone from what I would class as a usable 10k to 16k and the bigger image size means you can crop a lot heavier. The other features like dual picture I've not looked at and TBH probably never will

Well I've been reading up on the 80D - not suggesting it for you but apparently the significant dynamic range and detail recoverable for shadows is due to the latest technology featured first in the 80D and the 5D4.....and it looks like a very significant improvement from what Ive seen...Ian can probably corroborate...

          Re: 5D Question

I agree with Tigger Wait for the 5D4. I got mine on first day of release and have taken over 8000 pictures with it. The dynamic range is far better than my 5D3 as is the low light performance. The focusing system is first class and works well even in poor lighting conditions.
