This image shouldn't work!
From my house to Brixham (the town seen here) is four miles and Shannon Class Lifeboat 13-03 'R.J. Welburn' was in the middle of the Bay so around two miles distant. The shot was taken using the long end of a 70-300mm zoom on a 7D and then a big crop taken from that. With the subject (the lifeboat) so small and heading out of the frame with a large expanse of nothing in the middle it shouldn't work yet I find it strangely compelling. I've sat on the shot for nearly three years reluctant to share but it's just resurfaced so I thought I'd see what others think.

Incidentally, it was new on-station at Exmouth just up the coast less than a week previously and had made the trip to Torbay on a shakedown run.
Cheers,
John
