A very interesting composition with nice lighting and a spiral staircase adding some "where does it lead" intrigue

... and a 'welcome back" from me too

    Cheers,

Great shot Sid. I really like the front chair sat on the floor light. What bothers me, and my OCD are the two chairs behind. In my opinion it would work better if it was just the one lone chair

What a lovely image, Nigel, you have used the light to great effect, and the spiral staircase, which is slightly incongruous against the carved stone, adds to the interest and fits the image beautifully.

Thanks all for your thoughts and welcome.

I do tend to agree regarding the two chairs. Unfortunately the wardens don't approve of having the furniture rearranged so i was stuck with it.

Was tempted to attack them with the clone tool but chickened out....

An intriguing composition with much to sustain the interest.

Good to know I'm not alone with my OCD..............think it would be better without the other 2 chairs!

I don't think the one chair by itself would work quite as well as folks think. The reason being is it is bottom lit, not top lit. If it was top lit and became a central theme in the image I would agree. The bottom lighting doesn't really make the chair a critical part of the image. The chair's location in the image does that.

Hmm, never looked at it like that. Maybe my instincts are smarter than I am....

                          Sid

I hope you will forgive me but as I lay here off work recovering from surgery with time on my hands, I couldn't resist having a fiddle.

This, I hope, will answer the 'one chair, three chairs' question!
