    I used to have the Tamron 90 which was a super lens but the drawback was it did not have internal focussing which meant the barrel extended out a fair way
    Yes, I've still got my old Tamron, massive extension when getting close, plus a/f not exactly quiet or smooth. The main annoyance with the Sigma is that one gets an irritating noise from the IS, not something I've found with other Sigma lenses.
