    Adders

Adders are now beginning to come out of hibernation so hoping to be able to shoot a wild one this year but until then will have to make do with this pair from BWC on Saturday

Nice shot of a different subject, must have been difficult to know where to focus, bodies everywhere!

if I had then I wouldn't have got them all in the frame. I have been closer to a wild one I spotted at Blashford last ear but didnt have a chance to shoot before he was off

Well caught Stan . I was talking with an Adder expert last week , he explained to me that disturbing wild Adders this time of year can make the difference of life and death to them , they really are that low on resources when they first wake up . You would never know these were captive .

It wasn't a criticism of the shot, more about getting too close to a venomous snake

I realised that, meant to add a couple of smileys to my reply

they were both in the right place, away from the side walls so the shot could look quite natural. I think it not just wild adders that can suffer. These two were photographed quite early in the morning and when we went back to look later in the day, there was only one out. Thought the other had slithered off somewhere but someone said one had died during the morning

                        Nice shot Stan

I've never seen an adder (but I suspect many may have seen me) yet my sister, who lives in Dorset on the edge of an expanse of heathland, claimed she could guarrantee to find some when taking her classes (she was a teacher) on nature walks.

                        Cheers,
                        John

well caught shot of something different,
I suppose all the patterns made it difficult to focus on the eyes,
nearly stood on one years ago at Studlands, plenty over this side of S Wales on the Gower near Ilston, but be careful.

If the sun is shining then the eye shows up very red but that didn't help too much this time

Bit more contrast? Or is it the fact its been uploaded to the Forum?

                              Cheers.
