SWMBO and I were in Birmingham again today - she was doing a safety audit at Cooksons, the bullion dealers and even got to see the vault where all the gold bars lie fast asleep until they are needed.
I went for a wander with the M5 and the images below were the result. I couldn't help thinking that the sort of building below typifies the confidence of the Victorian era, when Brum was the heart of the manufacturing world.

However, there are not many streets left which have not suffered partial demolition and the insertion of modern buildings, but this one seems to have escaped unscathed.

This is part way down a flight of 20 or so locks on the canal which runs under Newhall Street.

But you can always rely on good old BT to intrude into any environment!
