    Re: Warm cloisters

Ian, I love the light in the courtyard and the distinction between in and out, but I'm not sure I can get over the slope of the path in the cloisters. Obviously you are at 11mm so not a lot you can do but everything else is so beautifully straight and vertical.

        Re: Warm cloisters

The problem I have with this is that the lines lead the eye towards the gate and the impenetrable gloom behind it and away from the real attraction which is the gorgeous glow of the courtyard through the arches. I suspect the solution - and I admit it's pretty drastic - is to crop the gate out altogether to produce a square image. This, however, would lose an interesting part of the scene that casting some light on may provide an alternative solution allowing the eye to turn left into the sunshine. Oh, I hadn't noticed the slope until Alex mentioned it

        Cheers,
        John

A very nice image Image Ian. The little slope on the lighted patch can certainly be corrected with the help of the" horizon police"!! However, this is not noticeable at a quick look.

I like it, any concerns on the path could be solved by making a layer and distorting it to bring it level, but the thing works for me.
