Loch Eriboll, North Eastern Scotland - Sept 2016

Got this whilst visiting friends in Thurso, north eastern Scotland. We went out for the day and travel along the A836 and A838 as far as Durness, stopping on the way there and back to take landscape shots. This is from the north eastern side of Loch Eriboll.

Very bright by the time it was taken so I have left the sunlight to the left hand side but could dumb it down if required.

Great scene Stan, the industrial looking ruin near the jetty reminds me of a Lime Kiln of a type I see around iron/lead mines. Was the house occupied?

Very nice indeed I stood in exactly that spot to take an almost identical picture while touring last May - I never did finish processing the hundreds of landscapes I shot and this excellent image is the prod I need to do just that.

Incidentally, they are lime kilns and lime production was once a big business in the area. Also this was the eastern landing stage of a ferry across the loch from before the road around it was built in 1890 with that house probably serving the ferry.

          Cheers,
          John

Thanks, one and all, for the positive comments.

Good idea Colyton, to turn over the old 'negs' to see what may turn out. Maybe the shot of the century. Or, just another shot you think was worth all the effort.

I rose to the challenge and will post my take on the view elsewhere. Shot of the century? I think not As a good reminder of an excellent ride around the northern wilds of Scotland? Definitely!
