No Photography for 3 months maybe more

Im of to hospital tomorrow for operation on my shoulder …. I’ve been having problems for the last 2 years and it’s got to a stage were a operation is now needed as nothing else has worked. I'm having keyhole surgery but afterwards my arm will be strapped up for between 2/3 months depending on recovery… then worst thing the other side needs doing as well, but not sure when that will be done could be straight away maybe a few months ..

I’m in hospital from midday tomorrow for 3 maybe 4 days but hopefully they will have wifi… but its going to be so hard not being able to take photos for 3 mths maybe 6

So I'll be looking over old folders trying to find something interesting to reprocess :) or I'll be chasing Tom as I convert images to B&W :)

Good luck Ian I've had keyhole ops on both knees and it's been worth the discomfort each time as it surely will be for you. The irony of your signature line has not gone unnoticed

    Cheers,

LOL... its not been down to carrying a heavy backpack, more like 25 yrs working on a keyboard ...I don't mind the op what does annoy me is the recovery and not being able to hold a camera for while, then its all repeated when the other is done ... I'm thinking I may give myself a few months break once my arm is working again so I can get out, although the doctor has already told me he wants the other done in 3 mths, thats no photography for 6 mths (((((((

No no no there will be a way round this.

Use a tripod & practice your macro stuff indoors.

C'mon Tigs if you can lift a coffee cup you can lift the camera onto the tripod.

        Show us some flowers!

Hope the surgery is successful (rotator cuff?) and remember to always do what your physio tells you........

        Get well soon.

Keep in touch Mate, but yes a Tripod with a remote release is the answer.

MOST IMPORTANT!!! I have known people not regain the full use of joints due to having no physio, or not carrying out the exercises faithfully - it will be a bind, but regard it as an investment.

cheers Paul, the real problem is going to be driving to locations, got some really great ones lined up and driving one handed isn't great - but I'm sure I'll find some work around ..

hopefully should be able to post from the hospital bed
