    Dunnock on a Log

    I do hope you like, I often wonder how many of these common birds were often mistaken for Sparrows, the now not so common bird.

    That's a nice shot.

    The dunnock was always known as a hedge sparrow when I were a lad but at some point "they" (whoever it is that decide these things) decided that it wasn't a sparrow at all and changed its taxonomy.

      Dunnock is indeed not a finch. Plenty of people fail to distinguish from house sparrow though once you know the differences are obvious.

      Where I live these are more (quite) common than house sparrow.

            Lovely picture with full of detail. Yes, they can often be mistaken for Sparrows.
