    Re: Arches

In some ways this reminds me of the 'palm bridge' shot you put up a couple of weeks ago. Some of the comments then said people weren't sure which set of steps to follow and I feel the same about theses arches. I start looking through the arches to the left but then my eye is caught by the light area at the rear of the right hand arches.

yeah see your point, I just didn't want to crop either out as they worked well

Does work as one picture though I suspect if would equally work as two...

            Re: Arches

This image has an interesting effect....forcing attention to be switched between the two sides.....coincidentally I was reading The Art of Photography by Bruce Barnbaun where he suggest putting two such separate images side by side to form one single image to get a similar effect....i guess you discovered this from the opposite direction....oh I just noticed ... its that 11-24mm lens again...

              Re: Arches

thanks Brian and I do agree, its an image with 2 sides, I did duplicate the image and cropped to just one side, but I was missing the other side so stuck to posting this image up

yes the 11-24 is becoming my walkabout lens now, just wished it was lighter and smaller...one thing I have noticed about this lens is the DOF is amazing even when wide open at f4 ...it almost seems pointless closing it down

                Re: Arches

Lovely image, Ian, but does no-one else see the face that's there? That's one thing that makes it really stand out for me (maybe I'm just odd) and if you cut it in half you'd lose that. Keep as is.

at last someone sees the face ...."quickly looks up to see what Alex is talking about"

Glad you liked it ...thought I was loosing my touch ..

                    Re: Arches

I do like this one Ian, it looks a spooky sort of place, well done for finding and capturing it. I think I can see the face at the right side. I would try and tone down the light area in distance of the far left side arches.

                      Re: Arches

The left portion is a strong image but covering up the right side the left seems weaker, well to me anyway.

Do like all the curves and the shadows too, good shot mate
