    New EF-S 35mm macro lens

Anyone tempted by the new EF-S 35mm macro lens? I'm saving up my pennies!
I like the idea of the built in ring flash, I can very rarely be bothered to carry the large macro ring flash on days out.

What do you intend to use it for? For anything that can move, such as insects, you would have to get very close up and most would be gone by the time you got that close. 35 mm is a very short focal length for macro, can't see much use for it myself.

I would use it mainly for abstract flower photography and still life.

        That would make sense then.
I don't use the ring flash very often either, instead I have a small flash with a tilting head that I attach a piece of card to as a reflector. It's lightweight, cheap and gives a less flat light than the ring flash.
