Jumping Ratty!- Oh!! for some good bird seeds.

This little fellow jumped off a log into the lagoon and swam to the nearest tree where it could spot the bird seeds and clambered up to it. Note the rather bedraggled fur after the little swim!!!

Easy to see why rats are such successful animals and why they are used in experiments on intelligence.
                  Nice set, Nat.

                      Slight thread drift..

You need a large disk under the feeder on top of the stump (as long as it isn't in jumping distance) Jeff, like a staddle stone, they were used to stop rats invading seed houses. see

You would be better off getting a roughly sawn through section of tree trunk and nailing that on the top, that way it should stop them and be more photogenic than that red tray, you could scallop out to top with a chisel roughly to form a shallow bowl to stop the seed blowing away, but drill a little hole in it to allow water to drain..

Thanks Tony for your comments. I will leave the dish matter to Jeff. These dishes are along the waters edge along with normal bird feeders!
