Gray heron and goshawk in Berlin Schöneberg

    Hi,

These are the first images I post in this forum. The story how I made them is also important to me. I was in the right place and in the right time. Speaking other words I was lucky and therefore I decided to share my pictures here.

I've been living in Berlin for almost 5 years. Each day I go to work from U-Bahn station Rathaus Schöneberg that is located in Rudolph-Wilde-Park. The park in this place is couple of meters below street level and the station has glass walls. Standing on the platform and waiting for a train on Monday morning, March 22nd, I saw a heron in the park. It happened to me a few times over five years and each time I regretted that I didn't have my camera with me. So I did that day too. The next day, on Tuesday, I saw the heron again. I've never had seen it before day by day. And again I did regret.
The next day I got up earlier and went to the park around 8 am with my camera. It was a tiny chance that the heron could be in this place in the third day in a row nevertheless I didn't want to miss the chance. I wasn't disappointed much when I didn't see it. I still had time before work, so I decided to stay and look around. And I was really surprised, when after 5 minutes the heron appeared.

While I was busy with the heron, a lady, doing Nordic walking in the park, approached me and said, that on the other side of the station there is a hawk that caught a pigeon. Initially I didn't realized what the chance it is to me. I continued the heron's photo session until another lady told me the same about the hawk. I left the heron and went to the other place. I was amazed. I don't think I will ever have another chance to see anything like that. You can see it on the picture.

Thank you all for nice words :-)
I wanted to prepare some other photos and publish them this evening. Unfortunately I couldn't manage it today. Most likely I will do this after Easter. I hope I will become more active on this forum.
