    Re: April 2017 Historical buildings

This is the chapel at The Vyne, just down the road from me.
Henry VIII stayed there on a number of occasions
I used HDR on a video monopod to get round the National Trust's objections to using tripods.
Please let me know what you think...

I think you should not be posting the photo here - this is CANON forum, not Leica

I appreciate this Tony. In fact I visited the Forum only today and I was pleasantly surprised. Perhaps you can remind me what my duties are; old age suffers from weak memory, you know that already.
The photos already posted are really superb!

Here's another recent picture I took
This time it's an English Heritage site, Northington Grange in Hampshire.
A really spooky place, hardly anybody every there. Frequently I'm the only person there.

              Re: April 2017 Historical buildings

After a great deal of thought I decided that I should add a post to this May Historic Buildings thread. The building, St.Helens Church (at Eston) originates from around 1100. However it has only been where it is now since 2011!.

I hope you don't consider it not to be historic. The building has had a chequered past as those who check out the external link will see. I've included the second image for those who watch the video in the external LINK.

#1 St Helens Church Beamish Museum.

#2 Just to show the remains of the numbering of the stone prior to the deconstruction of the Church when it was at Eston.

No rules as such Vasilis, just post a picture of a historical building taken during the month the completion runs for.. ( This one runs through May as well due to April being nearly over when the it started ) then people will comment and critique the image. I chose the subject as the world is full of historical buildings.

Peter, fascinating story and images of St Helens church, I mean to enter an image of a building in the Village, they are upside down compared to your second image. When Castle Donington Castle was dismantled and used in other buildings, the stone they started with was the smaller items from the upper walls, as they progressed the stones got bigger, so unlike the church, you have the small stuff at the bottom and the larger at the top.

That's a fascinating image, at first glance I thought it was an old church looking through the grave stones, I suppose in a way it is a graveyard to past times. Well done, I like that, well processed and presented.

Terry thats a lovely image, I cannot believe you get the whole place to yourself, can you tour the house? I love the aspect to the building and its symmetrical wonkiness if that makes sense.
