What is the best way to photograph Glass objects?

I wanted to photograph some glass crystal figures and would like some advice on how to get the best results.

I have tried with the 3 halogen lights that I have but no matter how I position them I can not seem to get any real sparkle or refraction in the crystal facets, the following are some sample shots that I have teken, 2 with just natural light in my garage and 2 with natural light plus flash.

Taken with 100mm macro ISO 100, f11 and variable shutter speeds

    2.5 seconds no flash

2 seconds, built in flash at -1 compensation

    1.6 seconds no flash

1.3 seconds built in flash at -1 compensation

I think the lighting is too harsh and the halogen lights too powerful for waht you want to achieve
If I were trying this sort of shot I would ditch the flash and use my light tent with a diffused desk lamp either side

The light tent sounds a good idea a peice of black card each side out of shot will give you a defined edge.

There will be times when you will be in the field without a camera. And, you will see the most glorious sunset or the most beautiful scene that you have ever witnessed. Don't be bitter because you can't record it. Sit down, drink it in, and enjoy it for what it is!

There are several sites that show how to make them but for £10 off eBay why bother? For example http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Photo-Stud...item4151f415fc
