    i was told by the site ranger this is a parasitic bee ,that preys on mining bees bloody tiny little thing that really needed a macro lens to do it justice

    This is Nomada goodeniana Gooden's Nomad Bee. There are 34 British species of Nomada, most look very similar to each other but this is one I could identify from the photo. Yes, they lay their eggs in cells of solitary bees, the Nomada larva hatches and eats the egg of the host, then the food store provided by the host. A bit like a cuckoo. Most people think they are wasps.
