    Englands Glory

I wasn't sure if I had chosen the correct area to post this but it does include a nautical element .

I spotted this mural as we were leaving Bluff (25th February 2017) on the South Island of New Zealand. At the time I made the image I didn't know anything about the wreck depicted in the mural.

My thought at the time was "make the image, then sometime research the background of the vessel". Well here I am just over two months later, just getting round to processing the image and doing a bit of research.

Having now searched the internet the back story of "Englands Glory" makes interesting reading. Not to mention a memory of a brand of matches that my search brought back to me. The history was made more interesting to me as the vessel was built on the River Wear at Sunderland which is about forty miles North of my home.

For anyone who would like to know more of the fate of the vessel, this is one of the sources of information I found
