                  I was more worried about sand getting in my camera! The tour guide (driver) in my car wrapped his 5Dmkii and 70-200 f4.0 in a cloth - mine was exposed to the elements (or more worryingly the sand). Fingers crossed it seems to have survived!

                  Too right. When I stepped into the shower afterwards there was a cascade of sand!!! (perhaps TMI!!!)

                  As for the sand detail - I was greatly helped by Topaz Detail. It really helped to pump the grains of sand. As a consequence if you look at the car paintwork it looks very noisy - I might have to deal with that!!!

                    It was only really noticeable when I had a further look on Flickr so you could have kept schtum
