    Fork Handles

We had a trip to this museum recently it must be twenty years since we last visited it. Wonderful place with reconstructed 1900's town and a Pit (Coal Mining)Village etc. This portrait is of one of the shopkeepers who was happy for me to make the image of him in the hardware store.

#1 Converted from colour as I thought it worked.

#2 I asked him how many times had he been asked for "Fork Handles". This was his response

Thanks Tom, I've just realised that the fork handle reference may be lost on anyone outside of the UK. This link will clarify it for those interested.

excellent Peter, but I do like the first although would crop the top shelf off

also, and its probably because I like to push limits, I think you could do a lot more processing with this image, if you could upload the Raw file to dropbox would be interested in having a play

just a different approach ...maybe all my followers prefer the dark side of life LOL

Its a shame I was hoping more would have commented on the 2 different processes / styes but never mind

I'm removing the image Peter as its not right to leave it up

Sorry, not been around much lately.
Peter, I like them both, and mono is definitely the way to go; of your two images I think the facial expression, pose and composition of the second works better than the first. I also see what Ian thought of the first with too much space 'up top' and slightly lacking in contrast. Obviously Ian has pushed his contrast quite hard, which makes for a more 'standout' image, although I expect the sitter would consider it less flattering!
