        Re: Bluebells near and far

The first works well but the second is rather too messy

As I have said before, the only way to shoot them close is using a macro lens to throw the background right out of focus - see my threads. I did experiment using my 24-105 but it was a waste of time

Thanks Stan, second one was actually me messing around as well, I didn't think it looked too bad, but now you've said I can see what you mean, always appreciate the constructive criticism, it's the best way to improve.

I went through the same process as Stan and never was happy with close images with 24-105 for reasons he's given.

            First image is good though.

Nice shots. I'd also have been happy with #2, at least initially anyway.

I find any constructive criticism given, whether on my own shots or someone else's, very useful!

And having just picked up a secondhand 100mm f/2.8 macro lens that I've not had a chance to use in anger yet, this was quite timely

Thanks guys, glad everyone like the first one

I'm told the 100 - 400 is very good at macro but haven't really tried it for that yet.

Look forward to seeing some shots from your 100mm Chris.
