PS - DPP question if I may be so bold!

    Hey gang,
Please don't shoot me down here but. . . . I have always and I mean always used PhotoShop ACR for converting raw files right back to the early days. I have it set up the way I like it and it remembers all presets etc. It just works for me

Problem I have is it worked fine on the 1DXmk1 and still works on the 5Dmk3 but will not work with the CR2 files from the 1DXmk2.

I use CS5 Ext and all updates for it are 'up to date' - tried to update the raw converter, say's it has installed but can't find it anywhere, not going to pay monthly for latest PS as that is just stupid.

So I guess what I'm asking is - is there a way to get the latest raw converter installed into CS5 ext running on a win 7 pro PC?

    Thanks

    .DAVID.

I have a horrible feeling you're out of luck. You may have to fall back to using DNG converter and working that way. Older versions of Adobe products are not updated for long...

Yes sorry to say that you will not be able to get the latest ACR to work with CS5

A bit confused as you refer to Digital Photo Professional (DPP) in the title and then you talk about Adobe ACR

The latest versions of ACR for the latest cameras only work with the more up to date versions of Photoshop - so unless you want to upgrade to Photoshop CC 2017 then convert the raw files to DNG using the free Adobe converter. I only used to have CS3 and for the 5 years I had the 7D, I had to convert all the RAW's to be able to open them in PS. Apart from the extra time taken in converting, I saw no difference in the Canon RAW and the converted Adobe DNG files. In fact if you open a raw file in ACR, process and then use the save command on the bottom left of the screen, as default, your file will be saved as a DNG

            Thanks guys,

Stan - after re-reading the original post it seems I omitted the all important 'how to get dpp working like ACR if possible!

As it turns out - I tried dpp and although easy to use it was no Adobe - so I bought LR6 and am having fun learning all the new 'extras'. Suits my workflow a lot better. Thanks one and all again
