    EOS 700D upgrade. (80D? 5D?)

Thanks to Neil40 because when I answered his post, I said I was happy with my EOS 700D ... and I am, but that got me thinking about an upgrade.

5D MK IV? No - apart from the expense, it complete overkill for what I can do and my abilities.

My current thinking is the 80D - it's affordable, had a tilt and swivel display which, for an arthritic person like me, means I can do some low level work without too much of the bending, it's got WiFi so it saves me using EyeFi cards, does 7fps which is useful - and lots of other things!

One question though - I assume the Wireless flash system won't trigger non-Canon speedlites? My Canon speedlites are too old to have wireless triggering and my newer speedlites are Yongnuo - I have a Yongnuo 603 trigger, but it would be nice not to have yet another item of equipment to carry around.

I also like the remote control from my iPhone.

So, how about a few EOS 80D owners opinions? Any other models in the Canon EOS range I should consider? As I shoot with my wife most of the time, I won't be moving from Canon because we share the lenses and accessories.

Would seem the 80D is a good fit for your requirements, we'll regarded too.

If you are thinking about going to full frame then the soon to be launched 6D II is rumoured to have articulated screen too. Of course there will be a price premium over the 80D and you need to consider if all your lenses work with full frame.

A couple of people at the camera club I go to have got 80D's, they seem like very capable cameras.
Sounds like it's a good option for you.

Used 7D2 is less than the 80D and does a lot more! (and does 10fps and loads of other good features)

        Worth a consideration IMHO

Hi Jock; I can't answer your flash question, but I can certainly vouch for the 80D... It stands up superbly against the 7DII, and I would suggest surpasses it in terms of Dynamic Range and Higb ISO performance... see my post fròm WWT in Birds for a shot taken at ISO6400... Good luck whatever you decide...
          Cheers;

            Thanks for the help.

I like the 7D II, but it doesn't have an articulated screen which is something I really use a lot.

I now have budgetary approval for the 80D, but I'm in no rush, so I want to try one out first. I might just wait to see what the 6D II has to offer as well.

Making me feel it is time for me to change as well Jock. Better change before Enchanted Forest, so I can see your new kit. Dave

I had the 80D for a year ,and yes it's a very capable camera that fits your criteria ,however after comments from a friend and a bit of investigation I decided that I got marginally better images from the 1D models .
I will say though that IMHO the 80d knocks spots off the 7d2 as a all rounder

And speaking as a 7D2 owner, there are areas of usability, control and reliability where the 80D doesn't even come close.
