    Thanks all, yes Nat, helicopters transiting into the hover shake badly, so it is a trade off to get a compromise between rotor blur and a sharp helicopter. I suppose in a way it's years of flying in them that helps you know how much they shake and when.
    Chinooks to help (as is is bad) have STVA's which are self tuning vibration absorbers mounted under the floors, three or four if I remember correctly, they work by vibrating the opposite to the helicopter to cancel out some of the vibration.
