    Thoughts..................

    I have currently a 7D Mk2 that I use for a lot of action, high speed action photography. I have used previously my Sigma 150-600 S, but was at Silverstone a couple of weeks ago and used my canon 70-200 f2.8 non IS with a Canon series lll 1.4 extender. Got some great shots, the Sigma weighs so much i have to use a monopod and a pack of paracetamol per day. My question is that I'm thinking of selling my Sigma 150-600 (and a Tamron 24-70 f2.8) and buying a Mk1 Canon 70-200 IS L, or the Sigma 70-200 EX DG APO OS HSM version, I have the Sigma 1.4 EX DG extender too. Looking at buying a Mk 1 Canon 100-400 IS L to complement them.......

    Anyone got any thoughts on this plan.....................

    Unless you have set a budget which dictates otherwise, then my only comment would be to look at the MkII versions rather than the originals. The 70-200 MkII is well respected - as is the 100-400 MkII. Everyone has different priorities of course but I would probably buy the 70-200 MkII first (because it's the faster lens and factors such as maximum aperture and ability to limit DoF might be of more value than native reach) and then buy the 100-400 MkII when budget permits.

    The 100-400 MkI is a good lens - I used to own one myself - but I much prefer twist zooming over push-pull zooming.

      Hi Dave

      When using your Sigma at what zoom focal length do you use the most, as this may give you a better idea as to were to spend most of your money.

        Dave, nice shots, if carrying the Big sigma and monopod is a pain, ( I take it you carry it mounted ) then I can 100% recomend one of these, I bought it for carrying my 500mm on a monopod and my shoulder thanks me, before it was a pain to carry, this spreads the load and takes the hard edge off it. ( I bought the black one )

        As for the 100-400 if you get stuck I have one I might sell, I have the mk2.

          Agreed; you'd be trading a hell load of reach if you're consistently using at 400-600mm. If you're not then it's probably not a problem to move down to the 70-200 and 100-400 options which are excellent lenses, but the big Sigma is 'relatively' 'cheap' and I'd be tempted to hang on to it - even if you don't use it that much. I'm sure most of us have a lens or two that we use rarely, but once in our arsenal, I've found that it's worth hanging on to them... I've made the mistake of trading lenses that I 'thought' I wouldn't use only for it to come back and bite me in the rear-end...
          Cheers;
