    Sea Eagle

Treff suggested I should have a go at this Bird Photography M'larky, so off to the local pond and give it a go.

    Try anything me!

Must be a big pond Not a bad effort for a beginner and a successful catch to boot...

      Cheers Lee.
It was quite a big pond, called Loch Tuath. Needed a boat.

Not too shabby sire, closest we get are black headed gulls on the pond diving between shopping trolleys and floating tyres. . .

              Great shot.

They fly past my house fairly regularly but never close enough for pictures.

                  I envy you.

With an 8.5 ft wingspan these are quite magnificent birds and well worth the time and expense of a half day boat trip to try and photograph them. I consider that just one sequence of shots, of a bird descending and catching a fish, was well worth the trip to Mull. A further benefit of the boat trip was a lack of wee bitey midges trying to eat me alive.

I also saw Golden Eagles, but never close enough for anything more than a record shot.

                      Thanks Stan.

I was trying to get the sequence of Talons Extended, Splash and Fish Grab. The actual Splash is the weakest of the three shots, it's the Talons Extended and Fish Grab that are the most dynamic. I have favoured the Fish Grab above because there is more going on in the shot with the Fish and the splash from where it was plucked from the sea.

That was an excellent image Colin. A image that is on my bucket list to get.

I would like to do that with any large bird. Just haven't been at the right place at the right time yet.
