You are a lucky boy lately.

Here you have a Sikorsky S92, operated by Bristows to cover the UK search and rescue role.

Nice and sharp, but a bit more blur on the rotor blades would enhance the shot. Generally, helicopter rotor blades run at 200 rpm, so would need a shutter speed of around 1/250sec to show noticeable blur, 1/125sec would be better if your panning technique was good.

    Hope that helps.

P.S. I am not seeing any exposure information in the metadata, so if you used 1/250sec or less, I am going to look rather silly!

Exposure against the sky looks good but it looks like you shot in AV mode and as a result the camera has decided you needed a shutter speed of 1/1250, which is fine for fast jets but no good for anything with rotors or props. OK it was a grab shot but next time, use TV mode and set shutter to 1/250 or less

Thanks Colin and Stan- two experts and much encouraged. If you click on the photo it will take you to my flickr site where you can see the exif. Yes, I used TV @ 1250, ISO 400;f7. Yes, this was a grab shot in that I was looking for small birds and this helicopter appeared (& the fox!!!)! Yes, I agree that prop blur would have enhanced the photo.

Nice one Nat, getting decent blur on a Chopper is not easy, Colin and Stan nailed it, slow speed essential
