    Laid Back

Went to London on Thursday, shooting the graffiti in the Brick Lane area, spotted this young lady - the path was quite narrow and she was having trouble getting the graffiti in frame

        Re: Laid Back

Well not rubbish Stan but you have set the bar so high I think you've limboed under it with this one.

Maybe if we could see why she was in this strange pose, or maybe if it was just a close up of her,it would have more interest. As it is it's just a young lady leaning backwards, in a messy background.

I hesitate to post this as I'm a big fan of your work. But I make the observation that when there's a billion photos out there, it's got to be exceptional to grab our interest for a second or two before moving on. And this one isn't .

All respect and I'll press the button now !

          Re: Laid Back

There are so many posts on here......and it doesn't help that they sink further to the bottom of the list of 'whats new' with every comment.
Some forums keep the order by the original post date.....not each comment.
I think this would look better as a grungy black and white with loads of clarity slider and deep blacks and a ton of vignette.....but that's just my simple way of making it more interesting.

didnt get close enough to see but as all the cool and laid back people go for them, it was probably a Canon

Just a thought did she know you took the picture and was she aware that it would be posted on sites such as this.
Know someone that got into deep water over posting a picture of someone (a female) that they were not aware he had taken.
It went all the way to court and the judgement went in favour of the female who was awarded damages of £1000.

                        Re: Laid Back

Trev I think it must have been in a private location...as I believe in the UK your image taken in a public place can be used providing its not for commercial use...in which case a model release is needed. Its different in France and maybe other locations but UK and USA I think you are ok.

Thanks Brian, the situation was a young female sitting on Exeter Quay eating an ice cream. The picture was entered in a competition, she was informed, saw red and took it further, eventually to court, would add Exeter Quay is a public location. Personally I would never photograph anyone without asKing first.

Trev, she was not aware and as Brian says it was a public place. Most street photography is shot without the persons knowledge and many are posted on social media with no problem. Of course if you wished to sell the image you would need a model release. Not sure about competitions though

Cheers Stan, It was just a thought. I think the problem with what I mentioned, it was used in public - a poster was displayed.
