    Staircase - Courtaulds Institute of Art

    Another staircase from last week and also an inspiration from John.I tried various shots, looking up towards a circular skylight at the top but even with HDR, the staircase was dark and the skylight blown out, so these two shots are shooting from the top down, where the same skylight provided good natural light. Both handheld with Caanon 10-22

    Hi Stan; as with the Science Museum images; #1 is my choice here... The leading line from top right, and more interest in the surround I feel is a better option that #2 where I find the bottom of the image distracting... Good job...
    Cheers;

      Dunno about Courtaulds, the combination of pale blue ironwork and white somehow puts me in mind of Wedgewood...

      Very nice.

        Another thank you to to Stan for saying one of my snaps inspired you

        My shot was from below which obscured the lovely blue balustrade that Stan's shot shows off so well; same staircase yet completely different results
        Of the two I also prefer the first as the intrusion at the bottom is distracting.

        Incidentally, for mine < here > I took 21 shots looking up and HDR merged seven to achieve my final image such was the challenge of the bright skylight

        Cheers,
        John
