    Conic Hill over to Loch Lomond

    A 12 image stitch, using Photoshop. I was quite happy with this considering it was 12 images, hand held, and with a kit lens. I had forgotten how good this lens can be

    Very nicely done, and well worth taking a gander on Flickr for the full effect

      Hi Garry; nicely done, and well worth the effort of the stroll!

      You're comment about kit is appropriate; I think most of us tend to discount 'budget' equipment too quickly in the desire to have a bag full of 'L' lenses and high-end bodies. In the right circumstances, handled and controlled well; most of Canon's equipment will yield very good images - even their 'bridge' cameras!
      Cheers;
      Lee

        Thanks Chris and Lee for the comments.

        Regarding the kit, yes, we can get caught up in the "bigger is better" mentality, but sometimes, it is worth just stripping back to the basics. Apart from that, it is all I could fit in the Lowepro400 after the picnic and waterproofs were packed...

            Well done, it really does show the beauty of the scene.

            I also fully endorse Lee's comment regarding kit lenses. Understand what you have, explore its limits and find the sweet spot and you should always get quality shots ............. says he with a bagful of L glass! But I have been there and gradually upgraded over a number of years, as funds became available and Mrs C wasn't watching too closely!

                Super image....is that the original 18-55 non IS?
                I had one and changed to the IS version which I dare to say was a lot better...but perhaps I just found it easier to get good shots with.

                  It is the original non IS version, yes. I don't use it much these days, but decided on this occasion to travel light (camera wise at least) and it paid off I think.

                  Thanks again,
