    Oh you lucky so 'n so, you got a shot of a Serval. Saw a couple, but by the time I brought the camera to bear, it was well and truly hidden in the long grass.

    The only other I didn't photograph was the Baboon ................. far too similar to members of my family!

      Re: Kenya Mammals

      Thanks Colin, we have seen many (serval's) over the years but this is the first reasonable shot I have got. As you say normally they are hidden by the long grass. We followed this one for well over tow hours. Going back in November hopefully and perhaps a better shot.

        They are really superb Trev. Did you take these in the Nairobi National park or Treetops or Amboselie?

            Re: Kenya Mammals

            Thanks Trev. Although I have been to Kenya I have been a visitor to South Africa thrice to see their wildlife. Kruger national park has been my favourite place. My Kenyan photos are in the form of slides and hence I have not posted them on the forum- the problem of scanning and transferring to my computer, reduces the IQ of the photos. I have of course posted some,in the past, from my South African trips.

              Thanks Nat, Yes I've had great ambitions over the years to scan my transparencies to digital. Did start once but I have a library of some 20,000 in various formats from 6x7, 6x6 and 35mm taking up two filing cabinets. Plus 16mm film running into miles!

                Re: Kenya Mammals

                I am in a similar boat to you as I have been into photography since the 1950's & slides & film since the 1960's. It is now beyond my scope and I hope my grand children will sort things out in their own time.

                      Re: Kenya Mammals

                      Great set Trev; getting me in the mood for my trip to Africa shortly...

                      - I like Pumbas; they're underrated IMO...

                      - I've never had a Jackal pose for me in the open!

                      - Servals, along with Civets and Genets have only ever been fleeting glimpses...

                      - Chacma Baboons are theiving buggers - and dangerous with it!

                      Well done...
                      Cheers;
