    Buff tailed Bumblebee on Great Knapweed

    My first post on the forum. Took a break from photography due to ill health but just now getting back into it. Taken some time ago in North Norfolk.

          a good composition and a plainish dark background which does not detract from your subject, however the whole image is rather too dark, losing detail in the bee. If mine I would increase the exposure overall by about a stop and then mask and paint back the background, something like this

            Stan - appreciate your crit. On my monitor the knapweed looks washed out. I think somewhere in the middle between my original and your edit would be about right.

              looks fine on my calibrated monitor, but it was just a quick edit to illustrate my thoughts. The main thing was to bring up the bee detail so an alternative would have been to increase the exposure etc and mask everything other than the bee
