    Osprey

    Spotted this osprey from a distance, just resting in the shallows off Bunche Beach and managed to get near enough to grab a few shots before he decided to take off, so a couple of different shots, the first at rest and the second, the only sharp one I got it fact but I like the way he is peeking over his wings. Both shot with 300 f4 and 1.4x

                  Fantastic shots! Unfortunately, I've never, ever seen an osprey. I must put a trip on my bucket list that will address this.

                    Hi Stan; Plenty of Ospreys in FL - as you know... lovely light on #1; but I'd have been tempted to tone down the whites ...just a little

                    Chris; there's a few places in the UK you can see Osprey; closest to us is probably Rutrland Water... In the USA FL is always good - as is the Chesapeake Bay area; specially the Virginia side - pretty well guaranteed sightings in Springtime - and not bad most of the year...

                    But... keep an eye on the RSPB postings. I believe there are plans afoot to release a number of young birds from the Poole Harbour area next year in the hope that they will return in 2019 and establish a colony going forward. That would be great if it happens!

                    Good luck...
                    Cheers;
                    Lee

                      Cool, thanks Lee. Poole Harbour would be a lot easier for me if that happens. Failing that, I'll have to plan some trips when I eventually retire

                        almost fall over them, perching and nesting on many poles along the roadsides

                        had tried that but white became too muddy looking

                        seen them there a few times with the nest in front of the hide but on the opposite side of the water, too far away for shots but they do sometimes come and fish a lot closer....apparently but not when I have been there.
