    When you speak to them, bear in mind the cost of a used replacement. MPB have two, one for 144 and a second for 164. It may not be economical to repair...

    Yep, though as said its still useable if they cannot repair it economically, just turn it off with the camera. Not a perfect solution, but a solution none the less.

    Or go old school and leave it off all the time An opportunity to learn the rule(s) about focal length and shutter speed...
