    Hi Ferdie; when and where did you buy the lens from? Do you have any recourse to the vendor for a mis-sale and/or limited warrenty? If it's a recent purchase; I'd certainly look to the seller as a first port-of-call... Or... as tony says; if you paid with a CC you may be able to claim on a 'not fit for purpose' basis! Good luck.
    Cheers;

      Hi Nathaniel, So am I. I just tried another posted solution which has sorted it. Before, when the camera was switched off, full battery, no usage, but IS 'on' the battery would be flat with in 24 hours!

        Re: EFS lens causes fast battery drain

        Ferdie it could be something as simple as a ribbon cable inside rubbing and now shorting out, or the IS unit itself, I would speak to a Canon repair centre on the phone which it have listed a couple below and talk to someone who may know and be able to advise you, it might be a known and simple, ie cheap problem to fix.

        When you turn your TV off or your Sky box it goes into standby mode, eg they still draw power and your skybox will record, same for cameras really.. think of it in standby mode.

        Check our list of canon cameras we service and repair. Fixation is one of a select few authorised Canon CPS centres in the UK and you can trust us with your Canon equipment. We provide free estimates and quick turnaround times for all our UK customers.

              When you speak to them, bear in mind the cost of a used replacement. MPB have two, one for £144 and a second for £164. It may not be economical to repair...

                Yep, though as said its still useable if they cannot repair it economically, just turn it off with the camera. Not a perfect solution, but a solution none the less.
