    5D Mklll Upgrade

    Hi All
After some advice my wife and I both do photography as a hobby and between us we have a 5D Mklll, 6D and a 7D Mk ll.
The 6D is getting old and we are thing of upgrading it.
Do we buy a 5D MklV or a new 6D Mkll. Is the upgrade from the 5D Mklll to the 5MklV worth the extra money.

    Many thanks
    Phil

Both my wife and I are active club photographers

Few comparison videos on YouTube may help you decide. 5dmk4 is aimed at pros and 6d mk 2 at enthusiasts, one card slot, 45 af as opposed to 5d which has 2 slots 61 af points, 6d does have the latest digic 7, 5d has 6+, the 6d has 4 less mega pixels, 5d has 4k at 30 fps 6 has 1080 at 60fps, 6d shoots at 6.5fps the 5d 7fps. 6d iso 100-40000 the 5d 100-32000. 5d supposedly has a better Lcd screen, shutter 6d 30 to 1/4000 the 5d 30/8000. 5d has a headphone and mic port the 6d just a mic, 6d has 1200 shot battery capacity, 5d 900. the 6d is considerably cheaper....i dont use video on a dslr, so that wouldnt sway me...if I had the money spare to upgrade....I'd go for the 6d and a couple of nice lenses...or one really nice one. ...if I were a pro then the 5d. I'm positive this will have quite a bit of debate [emoji6]

I agree; and I'm surprised there hasn't been more of a response to this post!

I'm not really going to be any help here, but FWIW; it's becoming clear that the 6DII is looking like being a serious player, and in IQ terms should give the 5DIV a good run for its money I think. Ultimately it will depend on your own preferences for what you do, what you shoot, and what functions are most important to you. You can set up a side by side feature review on DPReview. I've done it here. On the face of things it all comes down to just a couple of features... and COST! As we know the 5DIV is commanding a massive price-premium - some 60% more expensive than the 6DII...

I'd look to going to a decent retailer and sampling the two bodies in hand before making any final decisions...
      Cheers;
      Lee

What is it that the 6D lacks that you feel you need? Perhaps understanding that will allow you to choose the replacement from an objective point of view?

Does the 6D2 have in camera HDR.....5D3 does and I think 6D doesn't .....does that hold true for the new versions?

This issue has resulted in quite a lot of comment, 6D2 poor dynamic range. Whether it's true or not I don't know, or if significant

            https://www.dpreview.com/articles/34...-dynamic-range.

6D2 and 5D3 are pretty much the same price at present and I suggest that's a better comparison than with the 5D4.

If I had the money to afford a 5D MKIV - I'd spend it on lenses.

                Re: 5D Mklll Upgrade

I've changed form 6D to 6D2 and even though I've only had a week or so I am really enjoying it. 6D2 is the right choice for me but you have to decide what camera suits you best for what you will use it for. The 5DIV would have been nice but for my photography I don't really need it; and there's a big difference between a want and need.
