    Some Herons are born lucky. This chap has got a Goldfish diet!

    My richly endowed neighbour has a lovely garden and a pond well stocked with goldfish. This heron has struck it lucky by finding such easy prey in a pond. I was lucky enough to see what was happening from my upstairs window; I opened the window wide enough to let my lens through and took these photos. I could not have got these pictures at ground level as the Heron would have flown away- has done that before! Furthermore,one cannot really see the pond from ground level as my neighbour has got a better "Mexican" wall between us. I have to go round to his house- too late for such photos.

          Thanks Trev. They look OK to me on my monitor. I can always reduce the saturation if necessary. I will take another look. Maybe the first picture might look a bit "blue" in comparion to the others.

                    Thanks Paul. I am surprised that my neighbour has not done anything about this unwelcome visitor, but keeps on introducing more goldfish into his pond!!!!!

                      Well done Nat; good documentary series. The rework is certainly better! If you're shooting in JPEG mode (which I think you do???) then check your 'Picture Styles' to ensure you haven't changed them somehow! 'Landscape' mode gives vivid greens & blues!!! Just a suggestion...
                      Cheers;

                        Thanks Lee. I actually increased the contrast a bit and that caused the deeper "blue"!

                        P.S. I am also aware that the puritans amongst us would prefer ground level shots but in this instance that was simply not possible on account of the high wall between my neighbour and myself & even if I had to take the pics at ground level I'd have to go round to my neighbour by which time the Heron could have flown away. Furthermore I could not have got these particular shots.

                          Nice set Nat. We have a pond and have to cover it with a heavy net to avoid this kind of thing happening. Herons are no respecters of property...
