Some of the regular visitors to nature reserves have found to our great disappointment that some mindless visitors do not close the windows to the hides that are visited. Jeff, myself and some others regularly visit a reserve on the outskirts of Prestatyn and have recently found that the windows & the door to the hide had been left open, so much so that squirrels had got into the hide and have wrecked havoc. It is particularly galling as this particular reserve, although under the ageis of the North Wales Nature trust, the feeders and the bird food are supplied by some of us- not by the nature reserve. It is therefore important that visitors here ensure that the hide is well protected from vermin like squirrels and rats from entering this hide and taking advantage of the food that we,out of our own pockets buy and put in there.

Re: Anti social activities
Thanks for posting that nat ,luckily we have a good crew of regulars and we quickly tidied up the damage this morning ,a notice has now gone up (if it does any good) and the broken feeders have been replaced .thankfully the treasure chest kept them out of the main food store .

Re: Anti social activities
Would all visitors please be advised that all windows and doors need to be closed as you leave.
Failure to do so will result in you being beaten with sticks, your children taken into care, your car crushed and your house burnt to the ground. For those that consider this may be some form of humour, leave a door or window open .................. we dare you!Colin

You could always peg them down outside naked and cover them with Nutella, that should keep the squirrels out of the way for a while and should be painful when they discover the WalnutsLast edited by TonyT; 15-08-2017, 18:03.Canon 1DX, 50D, EF500 F4.0 L, EF100-400 f/4.5-5.6L I , EF100-400 f/4.5-5.6L II, EF70-200 f/2.8L II, EF180 f3.5L Macro, EF 24-105 f/4L, EF17-40 f/4L, EF2.0X III, EF1.4X III, 430EX II, MR-14EX...

Re: Anti social activities
A good long pole or a stick seems to solve the squirrel problem leaving the birds free to feed from their feeders. There were two of us in this rather remote but excellent hide sorting out this problem. Usually the resident Stoat solves the squirrel problem but it seems to have disappeared for the time being.Canon 6D; Canon 760D;Canon G15;Canon 40mm f2.8(Pancake);Canon 50mm f1.8(ii); Canon 17mm-40mm f4L;Canon EF-S 10-18mm f4.5-5.6 IS STM;Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 STM lens;Canon 24mm-105mmf4L IS;Canon 70-300mm f4-f5.6 L IS USM;Kenko 1.4x HD TC;Canon 430EX ii flash;Giottos tripod;Manfretto monopod;Cokin P filters + bits and pieces!
